2004 WSOP Champ Greg Raymer Announces Tournament Poker Strategy Book

After over a decade out of the spotlight, 2004 World Series of Poker Main Event winner Greg Raymer is back and looking to share his expertise. Raymer announced the upcoming release of his first poker book. “Fossilman’s Winning Tournament Strategies” is set to release in time for the 2019 WSOP.

Despite his lack of recognition among most poker players in 2018, Raymer landed a deal with leading poker publisher D&B Poker. The book concentrates on the strategies Raymer used to win the WSOP Main Event, along with “unknown” tips Raymer claims have not yet been adopted by high-level tournament players.

Raymer says the book focuses on topics that are lacking from most poker strategy books, such as tips for winning bounty tournaments, when to rebuy/reenter an event and more.

The deal makes Raymer the third former WSOP Main Event winner in D&B’s roster. D&B currently publishes books written by 15-time gold bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth and 2016 WSOP winner Qui Nguyen.

According to Raymer, he has been planning to write a poker strategy book since his 2004 win. Though he admits it would have been ideal to release the book during the poker boom of 2004-2005, he says he was too lazy to get it done until now.

In recent years, Raymer has spent more time coaching than on the felt. His poker webinars and training sessions are frequently in demand. He has a reputation among poker coaches for his ability to teach complex ideas in clear and simple language.
