Bernard Lee, poker pro and host of his own Bernard Lee Poker Show on PokerNews, took a trip to Lake Tahoe this past weekend and it was time well spent. Lee took down the WSOP Circuit Harvey’s Lake Tahoe $400 NLHE event, earning $11,456 and his second WSOPC ring. The victory almost didn’t happen.
Lee fell hard during the first two events of the series. He then took a little break, went for a drive around the lake and came back with a clear head. He took a seat at the $400 NLHE event and it was all uphill from there. He doubled up almost immediately when he scored a set of 5s against two pair and kept climbing from there.
After his victory, Lee stated, “The first two days [of the series], I don’t feel like I played badly at all. To take a step back, when I was in Coconut Creek, which was my last WSOP event, I played four events. And I felt like I played well, but it just wasn’t going my way. I actually left early, and I rarely leave early. Went to RunGood in Council Bluffs and I played really well and actually chopped an event, so I was really looking forward to coming here.”
Lee won his first WSOPC gold ring in 2014 when he won the $365 NLHE Turbo event in Black Hawk, CO, taking home $14,500. He has almost won two more rings since, finishing as runner-up in two WSOPC events.
