The Borgata Summer Poker Open kicks off this weekend, perfectly timed with the final days of another major summer series, the World Series of Poker. As East Coast grinders return to their home turf, Atlantic City prepares to welcome them with $3.3 million in guaranteed prize pools.
The 20-event series officially begins July 7, though Event #1, the Borgata Deepstack Kick-Off Event, does not begin until July 10. The tournament boasts a $1 million guarantee with a $580 buy-in and unlimited re-entry.
Secondary events offering a seat in the larger tournaments begin on July 9 and run through the end of the series on July 27. The first of the satellite events is the Almighty Stack Qualifier with a buy-in of $100. The buy-in is significantly higher for the Championship Mega Qualifier – $600.
The Championship itself begins on July 22 with two starting flights and buy-ins priced at $2,700. The event has a $1 million guaranteed, though last year the main event prize pool topped $1.4 million with 600 entrants. Players have the option to enter both starting flights and take their biggest stack on to Day 2.
Other events on the schedule include a ladies event, a seniors event, a six-max, various bounty tournaments; a survivor tournament, and the charity event “Put a Bad Beat on Hunger.” $10 of every charity event entry is donated to the New Jersey Community Foodbank and the tournament itself boasts a $100,000 guarantee.
Additionally, the top two players from the charity event will win free entry into the Borgata Poker Open Championship in September.
