The only thing better than a seven-night cruise around the Caribbean is winning some cash during a seven-night cruise around the Caribbean. The Card Player Poker Tour (CPPT) has wrapped up the fifth installment of its collaboration with Card Player Cruises for another successful Western Caribbean poker cruise and mid-stakes grinder Mark Stephen Edwards has surfaced as the tournament winner.
The cruise attracted an impressive field of 116 players looking to take down the $25,000 guarantee in the $450 buy-in game. Due to the great turn out, the prize pool was pushed to $45,008, which was ultimately split between Edwards and the three top finalists, Jim Meeks, Jim Welsh and Karina Jett. The four agreed to chop the pot and Edwards took home the trophy, the title and just over $8,000.
Edwards has three WSOP Circuit rings to his credit. His performance at the Card Player Cruises tournament comes after picking up his latest ring, which he won for taking down the $400 NLHE Double STack Turbo event at Seminole Casino in Coconut Creek, FL. For that win, he was awarded $13,632 and has now earned just shy of $600,000 in live-tournament action.
There are still two other cruises scheduled for this year. On November 5, CPPT will join up with Card Player Cruises for a six-night Cuba cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Seas. Toward the end of the month, a 14-night New Zealand cruise will take passengers and players around Australia and New Zealand on the cruise line’s Ovation of the Seas cruise ship.
