The CPPT Lone Start State Poker Championship at Post Oak Poker Club in Houston, TX is getting into full swing. After Lisa Fleishman took down the lead-in $330 NLHE event for $6,800, two more winners have now been crowned. The highlight of the series, the $500 buy-in Main Event, kicks off today and will run through Sunday.
216 entries were recorded for the $230 NLHE Deepstack event on July 31, pushing the prize pool up to $43,200. Justin Sumrall was awarded first place after making a final table deal and took home $4,754. Nelli Shteyn was given the second-place title and pocketed $4,474.
On Wednesday, the $580 Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) Championship impressed with 115 entries, including six-time WSOP Circuit ring winner Joshua Turner, 2017 WSOP Millionaire Maker runner-up Dejuante Alexander and George Abdallah, who took down the 2005 WSOP Circuit Tunica PLO event. The prize pool grew to $57,500 before Pete Quinones emerged victorious from a heads-up battle against Ohad Yannay. The two struck a deal that gave Quinones the ring and the title while the pair split the top prize 50/50, each taking $13,972.
The $500 Main Event (with a $80 “seat purchase” requirement) starts today at 12:00 local time. There are two starting flights today and tomorrow with the final table set for Sunday at noon. The prize pool will be determined once entry is closed.
The series will wrap up on Sunday with the $120 NLHE tournament, also scheduled to begin at noon.
