David Bradshaw of Atlanta, Georgia took first place for $154,000 in the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Winter Poker Open Championship early Monday morning. The $1,650 buy-in tournament attracted a total of 489 entries, creating a $733,500 prize pool.
More than just money, Bradshaw scored one of the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa’s signature guitar trophy as well as a $5,250 seat at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship which takes place next August.
Bradshaw went into the final table with close to a 2-to-1 chip advantage over the player with the next largest stack. That player, Matthew Leecy, would go on to finish runner-up. It was a fast final table that included Bradshaw, Leecy, Josh Lowing, Shawn Barnett, Moe Affaneh, Chris Boyle, John O’Neal, Joey Alegria, and Susan MacPherson.
MacPherson, Alegria, and O’Neal busted out in the first level of play, followed by Boyle shortly after the second level began. The pace slowed a bit when it got down to the final five, each player left with nearly equal-sized stacks and 60 big blinds.
It was once again anybody’s game until Affanch was eliminated by Lowing and Barnett was eliminated by Bradshaw. The final three played a few more hands before striking a deal. As the chip leader Bradshaw took the largest sum along with the other championship prizes. Runner-up Leecy accepted a $120,000 payday, while Josh Lowing took $86,857 with the shortest stack.
The SHRT Poker tournament season is officially over for the year. The next major tournament planned for the property will not take place until June, 2017.
