Along with the grand opening of Hard Rock Atlantic City on Thursday, HardRockCasino.com launched in New Jersey’s online gambling market. The casino’s gaming technology partner Gaming Innovation Group received approval from state regulators in time for the dual launch.
Hard Rock’s real-world opening included indoor fireworks and a mass guitar smashing. The launch of the brand’s internet gaming presence was slightly less eventful. The real-money online platform opened with casino games only and has yet to launch a poker vertical.
Hard Rock International has seen great success with live poker at their Florida properties, which makes their decision not to include a poker room at Hard Rock Atlantic City all the more puzzling. Hard Rock has, however, indicated it will launch live dealer games online. In the FAQ section of the newly-launched gaming, the operator says live dealer games will be broadcast directly from the Atlantic City casino.
Live dealer games have proven their power to gain market share in New Jersey. Golden Nugget, the first operator in the state to offer live dealer games, consistently brings in double the revenue of its nearest competitor.
Ocean Resort, which also held its grand opening on Thursday, plans to launch an online gaming site in New Jersey on July 1. Ocean Resort is partnered with GAN, the same tech provider behind Betfair online casino in New Jersey.
