Poker Night in America saw Jason Mercier square off against Esther “E-Tay” Taylor in a $25/$50 cash game. The coverage was part of the tournament at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino & Resort where the two did battle.
Taylor tried a big bluff on the river and pushed an all-in with $13,900, looking to scare Mercier into folding. However, the move did not work out as intended and Mercier called with his pocket 9s.
The decision to call came on a night when Mercier seemed to know all the right moves, and this was no exception. The board ran and once revealed a pair of deuces and no cards higher than Mercier’s 9s. His call for just under $14,000 was the right one as Taylor’s ace was no good to her and Mercier made away with the massive $38,575 pot.
Mercier continued his run and was able to leave that night with total cash earnings of $61,750 in his pocket.
