Jennifer Tilly, Maria Ho Among 11 Women in Poker Hall of Fame Nominees

Celebrities Jennifer Tilly, Maria Ho, and Kara Scott are among the 11 women nominated for the 2018 Women in Poker Hall of Fame. Those these may be the three most widely recognized names on the list; the other eight nominees have each made substantial contributions to the poker community.

Academy Award-nominated Tilly tweeted about her nomination, saying it has been a privilege to participate in the poker community for the past 13 years. Tilly holds a WSOP bracelet but has dedicated much of her time on the felt to charity events, using her celebrity to promote giving.

Ho may be the most accomplished player on the list, boasting $2.7 million in live tournament winnings, placing her among the top ten highest-winning women in the game. She also helps make poker famous as a commentator, hostess, and celebrity guest at numerous poker events.

The list of nominees also includes Lupe Soto, the woman who founded the Women in Poker Hall of Fame – the recognition for which she is now nominated. Soto, an industry veteran and long-time advocate for women, also founded the Ladies International Poker Series.

Requirements for induction in the Women in Poker Hall of Fame stipulate that nominees must be at least 35 years of age; have a poker-related career or player history that goes back at least a decade, and must have made a significant contribution to the poker community.

Other notable nominees include World Poker Tour Supervising Producer Mandy Glogow; 25-year poker veteran Shirley Rosario; WPT VP Angelica Hael, and poker charity leader Karina Jett.
