A former dedicated craps player recently took home the title and the first place prize of $60,248 at the Ante Up Main Event. Jonathan George beat 488 other players to win the tourney held at Thunder Valley Casino Resort. George has only played poker for about the past ten years and doesn’t spend much time in poker tourneys.
George, before taking on the gaming world, worked in the semiconductor industry and currently resides in Santa Cruz. His previous tournament experiences haven’t been too successful but now feels that he’s ready to dedicate more time to events. He attributes a large part of his success on the regular beatings he has received at the tables over the years.
The Ante Up series included 19 events and was launched with a multi-flight event, Catapult that brought in 1,588 entries. The Main Event recorded a single flight with 342 entries on day 1B. This was the largest single flight for a $1,650 event in Thunder Valley’s history and was responsible for lifting the prize pool to $715,407.
