Thijs Menco Beats A Field Of 243 To Win The WPT DeepStacks Amsterdam

Thijs Menco has won the €1,500 buy-in at the World Poker Tour DeepStack Main Event in Holland. Menco was able to best a total field of 243 players in order to take home the €73,239 cash prize along with some other benefits. The 40-year-old father of three won the title but also received a €2,000 World Poker Tour DeepStack Europe package in the process.

Menco entered the final table as short stack but by the time it became a one-on-one battle he had amassed a 2 to 1 lead over his opponent Pim van Wassenberg. The final hand saw all the money in the middle of the table and a board that ran A-3-2-7-10. Wassenberg was holding a 10-7 but it was no match for Menco’s 6-4 spades to complete the flush.

Prior to this recent victory, Menco’s only other tournament accomplishment was fourth place at the €770 buy-in event at that same venue, where he was able to cash out with €16,565. Here are the final results:

Final Table Results
1. Thijs Menco – €73,239
2. Pim van Wassenberg – €51,485
3. Dennis Bijen – €32,405
4. Tobias Peters – €19,710
5. Kees Aerts – €15,225
6. Richard Milne – €12,615
