UMG teams up with the WSOP to bring back eSports to Vegas

On May 28, the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino will see a world-first. UMG Media Corp. has teamed up with the WSOP to offer competitive gaming during the WSOP tournament running at the casino from May 29 through July 17.

Poker players and spectators can take part, as well as compete, in a number of games, including Fortnite, FIFA and Hearthstone. The games will be played on the UMG eSports Stage, located in the Pavilion Room at the Rio Convention Center. The Pavilion Room is the main poker tournament room for the WSOP event.

According to UMG CEO Dave Antony, “Last year we watched our initiative to grow esports in Las Vegas grow by leaps and bounds. Bringing the UMG Esports Stage into the World Series of Poker events is an amazing next step in continuing this initiative into 2018 and beyond. UMG will utilize its groundbreaking event management app to help organize the event and to constantly update participants of upcoming play and special events at the UMG stage.”

A UMG app will be made available on both the Google Play and Apple Store before the start of the action. The games themselves will be playable on either a PC or the Xbox One console. A complete schedule of events can be found at
