The 2017 Western New York Poker Challenge is just around the corner. Scheduled for March 31 through April 10, it features a $200,000 guaranteed Main Event and much more. A $25,000 guaranteed $300 opener kicks it all off, followed by a $50,000 guaranteed $600 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em tournament.
Returning to the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino for its third year running, the Western New York Poker Challenge includes 10 events in all. The action begins with two starting flights on March 31 and April 1 for the $300 No-Limit Hold’em opener.
Other tournaments in the schedule include a $150 buy-in, $10,000 Guaranteed No-Limit Hold’em, a $300 buy-in $15,000 Guaranteed Pot Limit Omaha, and a $200 buy-in Ladies Championship with a $10,000 guarantee.
The highlight of the WNYPC is the $1,000 Main Event, which begins on April 7 and 8. Last year’s winner, Richard Block, scored $52,768, which was the largest live cash of his career. The lucky local player was also the winner of the 2014 Seneca Fall Poker Classic Main Event for a $40,050 prize.
Players who want in on the Main Event action but want to avoid the steep buy-in will have several opportunities to win a seat. The Seneca Niagara will be running satellite events every weekend leading up to the tournament. Additionally, the top 10 finishers in the first two events of the series will each win a seat in the Main Event.
The casino will host a WNYPC Warm-Up starting February 24 which will include a series of one-day events.
